Hawkins Outfitters, MI

My pointer work was sharper than I expected after just two days in the field, and the grouse cover was thick but our guide read it perfectly. The whole trip felt like it was built around real hunters, not just a canned experience.

My first hunt with this outfit was absolutely seamless from start to finish. The guides knew the land inside and out, and the dog work was incredible—steady and stylish on every point. I’m already planning my return trip.

The Orvis endorsement was what sold me, and the northern Michigan terrain did deliver some solid bird numbers. That said, the pace felt a bit rushed for my group, and the lunch break was shorter than I'd have liked. Decent day overall, just not the premium feel I expected from the price point.
