جيم موريسون، هوليوود بول، لوس أنجلوس، كاليفورنيا، 1968

I’ve always wanted a shot that captures the raw energy of that 1968 Hollywood Bowl show, and this print delivers perfectly. The clarity in Jim’s silhouette against the stage lights is stunning, especially knowing there was only one other photographer there that night.

The composition is perfect—he’s mid-motion with the mic, and the black-and-white contrast makes the stage feel electric. I keep noticing new details in the crowd shadows every time I walk past it on my wall.

The grain of the print really captures that raw, electric energy of the 1968 Hollywood Bowl show. It’s a striking piece of music history that makes you wonder how different it would look with today’s crowd of phone cameras.
