Patti Smith Group, CBGB, NYC, 1977

The grain and contrast in this print really pull you straight into that sweaty CBGB room—you can almost hear the feedback. The black and white tones capture the raw desperation of the era perfectly. It's been hanging in my hallway for a week and I still stop to look at it every time I walk past.

That 1977 CBGB shot of Patti Smith looks like you're standing right there in the crowd — the black and white keeps all the sweat and grit of the room. Mine came printed sharp with no banding in the shadows, which honestly surprised me for the price.

The grain and contrast in this shot are exactly what you want from a 1977 CBGB print — you can almost feel the sweat and cigarette smoke in the room. Hung it above my turntable and it instantly gives the whole corner that raw downtown feel.
