Ruby P. ★★★★★

My dad and I read this one together, and the way it weaves the father-son dynamic into the actual baseball history made for some great late-night phone calls. The storytelling is tight, and it’s a rare book that made both of us emotional.

Stella E. ★★★★★

I didn’t expect a baseball book to make me tear up, but the way it ties the 1960s to real father-son moments got me. It’s a quick read, yet the history and heart feel properly weighed.

Henry Z. ★★★★★

The way Guilfoile weaves the father-son theme through that fateful day in baseball history is what stuck with me most—it’s a true story that reads like a novel, and I finished it in two sittings.
