The semi-matte finish really does make these plates feel more substantial and less prone to showing scratches, and the slight unevenness adds a nice handmade touch. I’ve been using them daily for salads and small meals, and they clean up beautifully.

I was worried the slightly uneven edges would look like defects, but they give the plates a handmade feel that I really like. The semi-matte surface doesn't show utensil scratches the way my old glossy set did.

The semi-matte finish has held up well through a few dishwasher cycles with no scratches so far. Only gripe is the slightly uneven edges make stacking them a bit wobblier than my old plates. Still, they look great on the table for everyday dinners.
