Pierre de travertin

The natural pitting in this travertine gives it so much more character than the polished marble I used in my last place. It's the same calcium carbonate base as marble, which I didn't realize until I read up on it. Set it on my windowsill and the light catches those little pores beautifully.

The travertine has a matte, slightly porous texture that looks way more expensive in person than I expected. I paired a slab under my Reverse Table Lamp and the warm beige tone picks up the light beautifully. Zero chips in shipping, which honestly surprised me for natural stone.

The calcium carbonate composition gives it that subtle, creamy depth that shifts in the afternoon light—exactly what I wanted for the table lamp base. It feels cool and solid to the touch, and the natural stone texture makes each piece look one-of-a-kind.
