Swapped out the plain shade on my bedside lamp for this 40cm empire one and the seaweed pattern throws the softest green-blue glow across the wall at night. The gathered cotton has a lovely weight to it too, no wrinkles or sagging like my old cheap one.

The gathered cotton gives the shade a lovely soft texture that catches light differently throughout the day. Paired it with a brass base and the 40cm empire shape sits perfectly on my side table.

I was worried the green-blue seaweed print would look busy from across the room, but the gathered cotton softens it into something almost painterly. The 40cm empire shape throws a really even pool of light over my reading chair, no glare at all.
