ピピワイ・トレイル、ハナ、ハワイ
朝早くピピワイ・トレイルをハイキングし、この信じられないような竹やぶを通り抜けたとき、コントラストの強い光のせいで撮影はほぼ不可能でした。がっかりしながらもワイモク滝へと進みました。しかしその日の遅く、短い雨が通り過ぎ、午後には柔らかく均一な光が完璧な条件を提供してくれました。雨は竹の節に溜まり、何千もの繊細な銀の輪を作り出し、太陽はキャノピーを通して素晴らしい光の輪を生み出しました。その効果は魔法のようで、この珍しい場所の雰囲気をぜひ捉えたいと思いました。揺れるしなやかな竹の海に完全に囲まれるのは非現実的で、竹がそっと触れ合う不気味な音が周囲に響いていました。均一な海の中で交差する茎が目に留まり、それを焦点にして構図を決め、視線を引き込むようにし、低い位置から撮影することで竹林の深さと密度を強調しました。
I hiked the Pipiwai Trail early in the morning and the light through the bamboo groves kept blowing out every shot. This print finally captures that contrast the way I remember it. It's hanging in my hallway now and I stop at it every time.
