The sauce is properly spicy without being harsh, and the beans themselves are tender but not mushy. I threw a can into my soup last night and it added exactly the hearty, rich kick I was after. Great fiber and protein for the price.
The beans hold their shape nicely even after a long simmer, which I wasn't expecting from a canned product. That fibre and iron content is a solid bonus for a quick weekday chilli.
The sauce has real heat without being overpowering, and the beans stay firm enough to hold their own in a slow-cooked stew. I tossed a can into my chilli con carne last night and the fibre and protein made it a properly filling dinner for two.
