Grand Funk Railroad, 1974

I’ve been a fan of Grand Funk since the 70s, so seeing this Lynn Goldsmith shot in person brought back the energy of that era. The matte finish on the print gives it a real archival feel that suits the Morrison Hotel Gallery quality.

There's a raw energy in this shot that just pulls you right back to 1974, and the archival quality of the print makes it feel like a true collector's piece. The way Lynn Goldsmith captured the band mid-performance is exactly what I wanted for my music wall.

The black-and-white treatment really lets the grit of the stage show through, and the detail in the drum kit is sharp even up close. Framing it at 16x20 brought out the crowd haze nicely. Only knock is the print took a week longer to arrive than the estimate.
