Neil Young, Philadelphia, PA, 1970

This print has that raw, intimate energy you’d hope for from a backstage shot – the texture of the paper really makes the black-and-white tones pop. It’s a perfect piece for any fan of that era of his work.

The backstage shot captures Young mid-strum with that perfect shadow on the wall, and the print's clarity makes the 1970 grain feel almost tactile. It's the exact cover image I grew up staring at, so having it framed in the living room is a little piece of history I don't tire of.

I'd seen this image a million times, but the print quality and the way the backstage light falls across his face is something else in person. Even the paper stock feels substantial, like a real archival piece from that era.
