The remote setting and expert guides made every cast feel purposeful, and the lodge’s meals were surprisingly gourmet for such a wilderness retreat. I booked the August 2027 dates and already can’t stop thinking about the evening hatch.

The five days at Fortress Lake felt like a lifetime of calm; the remote setting in British Columbia is exactly what the photos promise. Evenings on the water were so quiet you could hear the line cut the air, worth every penny of the $6,250.

The August 16–20 window worked perfectly for my schedule, and at $6,250 it's a serious splurge, but the week in British Columbia at Fortress Lake felt worth every penny for the remote setting alone.
