The soft curtains behind her make the whole shot feel like you just walked into the room mid-conversation. I've got it framed above my record player and the black-and-white keeps it from feeling like a typical celebrity print.

Hanging this in my hallway, I notice something new every time — the soft curtains behind her make the whole room feel calm and lived-in. The black-and-white tones are gentle rather than contrasty, which suits the quiet mood of her sitting there at Jim Lauderdale's house.

The soft indoor light and those curtains in the background give it such a lived-in, genuine feel, not a staged studio shot. You can see the quiet moment between her and the simple furniture, and it makes the whole photo feel personal. It’s been framed above my desk, and I catch myself looking at it
