Tencel, the brand name for lyocell, is regenerated cellulose fiber known for its silky-smooth texture and breathability, while cotton is a soft, absorbent and durable natural fiber. The textured surface with raised linear ridges adds depth, creating a more tactile look and feel.
I rubbed the swatch against my cheek just to test the texture and it genuinely feels like silk, not the scratchy wool I was bracing for. The Tencel breathes nicely too, so I'm ordering the full size for my living room.
The Tencel really does feel silkier than the cotton swatches I've handled before, almost cool against my fingers. Ordered it to check the color against my sofa and now I'm just trying to pick a size.
I was worried beige would look flat in my living room, but this swatch has a subtle sheen from the Tencel that catches the light beautifully. The weave feels dense and silky-smooth, exactly the texture I was hoping for before committing to a full rug.
