Japanese Glass Fragment Incense Burner

Japanese Glass Fragment Incense Burner - Main image
$75.9 $115 In stock

Category: Wms&Co.

Incense holders formed from glass fragments salvaged from Japanese kiln bottoms—irregular shards that began as molten overflow from the glassblowing process. Each piece has been annealed to remove sharp edges, transforming industrial remnants into sculptural forms that catch and refract ambient light. The substantial weight (approximately 8 ounces) anchors a single incense stick, while the unique geometry of each fragment—no two alike—speaks to the unpredictable beauty of reclaimed materials. A meditation on chance, craft, and the quiet beauty of industrial accident made intentional.

While roughly uniform in volume, individual pieces range from 1.5" to 4" in length or height. Inventory is highly limited.

The glass is surprisingly heavier than it looks, and the uneven kiln-bottom texture makes it feel more like a sculpture than a burner. I love that each shard is one-of-a-kind from the glassblowing process—mine has a subtle crackle pattern that catches the light when the incense is lit. It’s the perf

The uneven, raw edges catch the ash just fine, and the fact that it’s literally a melted glass shard from a kiln bottom makes it feel like a tiny piece of history on my desk. It’s heavier than I expected, which keeps it steady even when I tap the incense stick.

Olivia D. ★★★★★

The way light passes through the salvaged shards is mesmerizing—each piece catches the glow differently, and my desk finally feels complete. Annealing was clearly done right, because the glass feels solid and safe to handle even with all those jagged edges.
