With the launch of Phoenix 200 in December 2023, HARMAN kicked off their first ever color negative film, made entirely from emulsion to cassette at the HARMAN technology factory in Mobberley.

HARMAN RED 125 is an ISO 125 redscale film based on the Phoenix 200 emulsion. The film has a clear base, no anti-halation layer, and high red & green sensitivity. These attributes make it the perfect emulsion for a redscale film, ensuring minimal speed loss and transforming mundane scenes into dystopian masterpieces with hues of red, orange, yellow and green.

“Redscale” describes the effect you get when shooting through the back of a color film. By doing this you are exposing your image through the film’s base and the red-sensitive layer first while also significantly reducing the impact of the blue-sensitive layer. When accurately exposed, this typically removes the blue from the image whilst creating almost monochromatic results primarily consisting of reds, oranges and yellows.

Julian J. ★★★★★

Shot my first roll through this yesterday and the skin tones are genuinely lovely, with nice warm highlights that don’t blow out. The 120 backing paper was smooth to load and the emulsion held up well in mixed light. Definitely picking up another roll for the weekend.

The colors on this 120 roll came out with that warm, nostalgic pop I was hoping for, and the grain is pleasingly fine for a daylight shot. Shot my first roll through this on a grey, overcast afternoon and the colors still came back with that warm, punchy saturation you want from a 120 roll. The fact that it’s fully manufactured in Mobberley shows—no weird color shifts or halation issues, just consistent frames edge to edge. I’ve alread
