Rollei was founded in 1920 and is known for its top-of-the-line Rolleiflex and Rolleicord medium-format cameras. No longer producing cameras, MACO is now the licensee of the Rollei brand products, that includes a line of black and white films. Rollei’s films range from 25 ISO panchromatic fine-grained film to other film types like the near-infrared 400 ISO and the ultra-sharp Ortho Plus 25 ISO orthochromatic.

A low-speed panchromatic black and white film, Rollei RPX 25 has a nominal sensitivity of ISO 25. Aside from the extraordinarily fine grain, the Rollei RPX 25 has great resolving power and high acutance. Rollei RPX 25 is characterized by a high sensitivity reserve of one f-stops, depending upon development. The thin, silver-rich emulsion is coated onto a crystal-clear base and offers an excellent balance between image quality (sharpness/fine grain) and speed yield.

Olivia D. ★★★★★

The tonal range on this 120 roll is just stunning, especially in the mid-grays—skin tones look like they’ve got actual depth. I shot it at box speed on a bright day and the shadows held way more detail than I expected from a low-speed film. It's become my go-to for portrait work when I want that cla

Thomas U. ★★★★★

The grain on this 120 roll is beautifully tight for a low-speed stock, and the tonal range in my shadow detail came out richer than I expected. I've been using it for my landscape work and the negatives are razor-sharp even at f/8.

Sebastian ★★★★★

I’ve shot a few rolls of this 120 film and the grain is beautifully fine for a low-speed stock, which gives my portraits that classic creamy look. Exposure latitude felt forgiving too, even when I missed my metering by a stop. It’s become my go-to for bright daylight shoots.
