SNAKES IN THE COCONUT CAKE Hurricane Helene has caused catastrophic damage and incomprehensible suffering to the Southeast. Snake Oil (deep, rich, earthy notes swirled with vegetal musks, sugared vanilla bean, and dark spices) is one of our most beloved scents, so I dribbled a bit of it into two traditional southern desserts in order to make a pair of fundraiser scents for Mutual Aid Disaster Relief and World Central Kitchen’s efforts in the area. Thick slices of coconut-frosted coconut cake dunked in a vat of Snake Oil.

The coconut and vanilla come through just enough to soften that deep, earthy dirt-and-musk bite — it’s weirdly cozy, like rain on warm skin. I’ve been dabbing it on my wrists before bed and the scent lingers for hours without turning cloying.

The earthy depth of this oil really comes through—it's rich and grounding, not sweet at all despite the coconut name. The vegetal musks add a weird, almost green edge that keeps me sniffing my wrist hours later. It's a strange beauty, but one I can't stop reaching for.

The earthy depth of this comes through right away, but the sugared vanilla softens it into something surprisingly wearable. I've worn it all week and the throw lasts hours without being loud, which is exactly what I want from an oil.
