The grain of the photo paper feels just right, bringing out the texture of Blakey’s drum kit and the smoky mood of that Paris club. I’ve already got it framed above my desk, and every time I look up, I feel that late-50s energy.

The contrast in this print is stunning—Blakey’s intensity practically jumps off the matte paper, and the 1958 Paris setting adds a palpable vintage mood. I’ve got it framed in my study, and every time I glance over, I feel like I’m in that smoky club.

The drumsticks are frozen mid-strike and Blakey’s intensity comes through clearly, but the print feels a little flat for a live performance shot. It’s a solid piece for a jazz fan, just not the most dynamic image I’ve seen from that era.
