攝影師手記：很難知道什麼時候是接近比爾的好時機，因為他每次來紐約時總是非常忙碌，而且沒有人知道究竟什麼事情會引發他出了名的脾氣。但後來他開始注意到我的照片，這些照片有時會用在每週的節目中，其中一些也展示在樓下F.E.行政辦公室的主要區域。他開始尊重我，於是我鼓起勇氣問他，是否可以在他兒子大衛（當時兩歲）來訪的那天，在他的樓上私人辦公室為他拍照。我大約有一個小時的自由時間，期間有一位來訪的記者也對比爾進行了採訪。這張照片是在那個小時接近尾聲時拍攝的，呈現的是一個疲憊但沉思的男人。

Bill looks like he's about to snap at whoever's holding the camera, and that's exactly why I keep staring at it. You can almost feel how busy and on-edge he was in New York, which makes the shot feel earned rather than staged.
The tension in this shot is unreal — you can feel how wary the photographer was about approaching him, and it comes through in every line of Bill's face. It's the kind of candid portrait that makes you stop and wonder what got said right before the shutter clicked.
