Carmen Exits Taxi, New York, 1959

I love how Schatzberg captured that moment—the way her heel and hat frame the taxi door is pure 1959 New York. The black-and-white tones give it a film-noir feel that looks incredible on my wall.

The contrast in this print is stunning—the dark of the taxi against her pale coat really draws you in. I’ve already decided where to hang it in my living room.

That shot of her stepping out of the cab has so much motion, it feels like the viewer is right there on the street in 1959. The soft grain in the print gives it a beautiful film-era texture that I really appreciate.
