The extension ring turns it into a proper little oven, and I've done a small pork shoulder that came out tender all the way through. Using the roasting stand keeps the meat off the base so it doesn't sit in the drippings and burn.

I finally did a whole roast chicken on the barbecue and it came out juicy with crispy skin, something I never managed with just the flat grill. The roasting stand holds the meat up so the fat drips down instead of pooling. Cleanup was easier too.

The extension ring fits snugly and raises the lid enough that a small pork shoulder clears the grate without touching. It did add about 15 minutes to my cook, but the meat came out tender all the way through.
