The curved edge actually reaches the sides of my saucepan, so I'm not chasing lumps around the bottom anymore. It feels sturdy even though the mashing plate is nylon, and it cleans up in seconds.

I was skeptical the hinge would feel flimsy, but it locks into place solidly when I'm mashing and folds away flush for the drawer. The way the plate curves down to reach the edges of my stockpot is a small detail that genuinely saves me from chunkier bits.
