Iggy Pop New York, NY 1993

The way Clinch captured that arched back and raw tension in 1993 is pure electricity, and the dark, moody contrast makes it feel like Iggy’s about to leap off the paper. It’s hung above my desk and I keep catching myself staring at the drama in his hands.

The grain of the film stock gives this Danny Clinch shot of Iggy such a gritty, live-wire feel. It’s already up in my hallway and stops me every time I walk past.

The way he’s captured mid-motion, all that raw energy frozen in black and white, makes it feel like you can hear the music. Clinch really nailed the dramatic contrast in this one, and it’s easily the most striking piece in my collection now.
