James Brown, Zaire, 1974

Hung these on the wall and they instantly turned a blank space into a conversation piece; the matte finish really makes the colors pop. The frame is sturdier than I expected for the price, and the print arrived perfectly flat with no bends. I'd buy another one for a friend.

I hung this in my living room and the way it captures his energy during that Zaire performance is incredible—the lighting on his face feels almost three-dimensional.

The grain and contrast in this portrait are spot-on—you can feel the sweat and roar of that 1974 Zaire crowd just by looking at it. Lynn Goldsmith really captured something raw here, and the print quality does her work justice.
