James Dean, Los Angeles, CA, 1955

The composition is spot-on, with Dean framed perfectly against the observatory’s architecture, and the print’s sharp tonality really brings out the mood of that 1955 set. It’s a piece I keep glancing at every time I walk past it in the hallway.

This image has such a great candid feel to it, I love the way it captures him mid-thought on the set. The black-and-white tones are perfect for that era, and it looks even better framed on my wall than I expected.
