夏威夷大島
這個清晨的感受難以言喻。當我在月光下徒步穿越冒煙的脆裂熔岩時，一股詭異的電流充滿空氣，我不禁覺得即將有重大事件發生。直到很久以後，我才意識到可能造成這種感覺的原因。一位朋友告訴我關於佩蕾的故事，她是夏威夷傳說中的火女神。佩蕾是一位喜怒無常、有時甚至報復心強的女神，她以毀滅土地和創造土地的力量為樂。傳說她和她的妹妹納馬卡-奧-卡哈伊（海洋女神）不斷互相破壞，導致佩蕾沿著島鏈遷移，最終佔據了大島上的莫納羅亞山。你可以在左上角看到她的美麗側影——彷彿她正在向海洋吹氣或低語，使下方水面上的蒸汽分開。每次看到這張照片，我都會起雞皮疙瘩。這是我一生中最重要的拍攝。
I've hiked the Big Island before sunrise and this captures that eerie electricity under moonlight better than any photo I've seen. The smoldering crunchy lava detail hit me right away. It's hanging in my hallway now and I still stop to look at it.
The crater floor glows through this piece in a way that stops me every time I glance at it—that pre-dawn tension between black lava and pale moonlight is captured perfectly. It’s hanging above my desk now, and I keep finding myself lost in the texture of those crunchy, smoldering ridges.
The moonlight hike over crunchy lava was genuinely eerie in the best way, and the smoldering ground felt warm through my boots. Only wish the print were a bit larger so the details were easier to catch from across the room.
