The lid actually keeps water from sloshing all over my freezer, which was my biggest annoyance with my old tray. And the switch lets me drop just one cube into my glass instead of wrestling the whole tray loose.
I've been fighting with twist-and-pop trays for years, and the lid on this one finally means no more ice cubes welded together in a frosty clump. Flipping the switch to drop a single cube into my glass is oddly fun too.
The switch mechanism is so satisfying to use—I can pop out a single cube for my coffee without wrestling the whole tray. The lid keeps everything tidy and I haven’t had a single spill or freezer-burn issue since I started using it.
