The scalloped edge on the base softens the whole piece, so it doesn't just feel like another hulking kitchen block. I caught myself running a hand over the honed marble finish the first day—it's that smooth, substantial texture that makes the island the focal point of the room.

The marble top is genuinely beautiful and the scalloped base looks exactly like the photos, so the craftsmanship is there. That said, it arrived with a small chip on the edge and the honed finish does show water spots pretty quickly unless you wipe it dry right away.
