Joshua ★★★★★

I’ve been a Tom Petty fan forever, and this Lynn Goldsmith photo from the Sound City sessions captures his quiet intensity perfectly. The black-and-white grain and the way the light hits the mic in the studio really pull you into that 1979 moment.

Andrew ★★★★★

The grain in Lynn Goldsmith’s shot really brings out the rawness of that 1979 Sound City session—it’s like a stolen moment, not a posed portrait. I’ve got it framed in my studio and keep catching myself staring at the detail in his expression.

Henry U. ★★★★★

You can almost feel the late-70s energy in this room—Lynn Goldsmith really captured Tom Petty in his element at Sound City. The way he’s leaning into the mic, totally focused on the track, makes it feel like you’re standing right there in the studio. An absolute gem for any music fan.
