This photo, which appears to be of two people falling from a building, became the cover of Elliott Smith’s self titled, second record. It is actually a photo of a sculpture outside a museum in Prague, in the Czech Republic, taken on a trip in 1992. It was not shot with his album in mind, Elliott just liked it. He took the original black and white print and xeroxed it in blue to make the art that is familiar now to fans. This photo has never been seen until now, 8/26/2020, as it is published in the 25th anniversary edition of his second album bundled with a book of JJ Gonson’s photos of the late singer songwriter.

Lucy D. ★★★★★

I've always loved the story behind this album cover, so seeing the actual photo of the sculpture in Prague framed on my wall is surreal. The print captures the moody shadows and light just right, and it shipped in perfect condition.

Thomas ★★★★★

The print quality is fantastic—the dark tones in the buildings really pop against the stark white sky. It’s a conversation starter for sure, since most people don't realize it’s a sculpture.

Amelia ★★★★★

I always thought it was a real photo of people falling, so learning it’s a sculpture in Prague made the image even more fascinating. The print captures every bit of that gritty, melancholic texture that fits Elliott’s music perfectly. It’s now the centerpiece of my living room wall.
