This was shot from the front of the stage during one of those amazing performances at the Wembley Arena. I loved to shoot there as the stage and access were good and the lighting was great, which was unusual in those days. I really liked this Pied Piper shot and believe it was used on the cover of the Melody Maker. -- Barrie Wentzell30x40 size is archival digital only.

Hannah ★★★★★

The grain and clarity from that stage-front angle is just perfect—you can practically feel the energy of the Wembley crowd. I've stared at this print for an hour and keep noticing new details in the lighting.

Joseph Q. ★★★★★

Captured from right in front of the stage, you can practically feel the energy of that Wembley night. The lighting really pops in the print, making Ian's pose feel alive even decades later.

Miles ★★★★☆

I wasn’t sure how well a concert photo would translate to a print, but the clarity on Ian’s flute is sharp enough to see the detail in his fingers. The warm stage lighting adds a nice feel without washing out the black background.
