Description The early exploration writing of Philip Sava bent the limits of post-modern fiction, revealing fantastical worlds that fooled many into believing they were, in fact, real. Sava's kaleidoscopic collections, of which Memoirs of a Trespasser is the undeniable centerpiece, drew upon true experiences from his exotic travels but were infused with a hallucinatory inventiveness that set his work apart from others in the genre.

Though Sava had associates all over the world, he spent most of his time living in solitude on a ranch in southern Madagascar. When interrogated by the press on his cloistered lifestyle he notoriously answered, "Who needs love when you have cognac?"

The smoky guaïac wood dries down into the softest vanilla I’ve worn in a while, and the ambrette seed adds a quiet, fuzzy texture that keeps it interesting. It smells like a worn leather journal sitting on a shelf of old resin, which is exactly the vibe I was after.

The dry-down on this one is what sold me—that guaiac wood and myrrh combo turns into a soft, smoky vanilla that lingers for hours without going powdery. I've been wearing it on cool evenings and it feels like a warm library in a bottle.

Abigail Z. ★★★★★

This woody vanilla is wonderfully complex—the guaiac wood and myrrh give it a smoky warmth that lasts all day without being overpowering. I keep catching whiffs of the soft ambrette seed hours later, which makes it feel like a proper grown-up scent.
