“The first time I photographed Metallica was when they opened for Ozzy Osbourne on Ozzy’s The Ultimate Sin tour. Metallica had just released Master of Puppets. The record was getting a lot of buzz, and the magazines started requesting shots of the band. I was touring with Ozzy, so I introduced myself to the guys in Metallica and asked if it would be cool if I shot them. I told them I would be on and off the tour and that I would bring them the photos to approve. They liked what they saw, and soon enough we began doing shoots. This was one of the last shoots of Cliff with the band before he tragically died in a bus accident later that year.” — Mark “WEISSGUY” Weiss

Andrew ★★★★★

The black and white tones in this print really capture the raw energy of that ’86 show. Master of Puppets-era Metallica looks exactly as intense as I’d hoped, and the paper has a nice archival weight to it.

Hannah ★★★★★

The grain and contrast in this print make the stage lighting look almost electric—perfect for any fan of that raw 80s metal era. I’ve got it framed next to my listening setup, and it’s a daily reminder of how intense those early shows must have been.

James D. ★★★★★

I’ve been hunting for a classic Metallica shot for years, and this print captures that raw 1986 energy perfectly. The detail in Kirk’s robe and the stage lighting is incredible for a live shot from that era. It arrived well-protected and looks amazing framed.
