The archival printing really does this image justice—the texture in the gym lighting and Miles’s stance feels almost three-dimensional. It’s a quiet, intense moment from 1970 that I keep coming back to on my wall.
The contrast in this print really captures the mood of that gym — you can almost feel the humidity in the air. I went with the silver gelatin and the tonal range is stunning, from the deep blacks in the background to the highlights on his trumpet.
The texture on this print feels almost like the darkroom was still wet—the shadows in the gym have that deep, velvety pull. Got the standard archival version and it's sharp enough to see the sweat on his brow. Exactly the kind of quiet, tense energy I wanted for my studio wall.
